Equipment Needed to Host a Podcast

Note: Directions are based on my own personal set-up.  I am using an iMac (2015) with a USB input.

This is the equipment you will need to record a podcast: computer, monitor, and speakers, microphone, mixer, an audio editing program (I use adobe), and a tablet or phone from which to play music and/or effects.

These are the cables you will need: a female to male XLR (for the mic), a stereo 3/5 mm male to 2 mono 1/4 male cable (for tablet or phone connect), 2 mono 1/4 male to 2 mono 1/4 male cable (for speakers), and a usb chord to connect the mixer to the computer’s input.

If you are interested in taking phone calls during your podcast you will need a “mix-minus” set-up.  This will allow you to do interviews using Skype.  Click here to learn more.
